3 Photographs That Move Me

Dave Beckerman
A Taste of Snow, 2008

This photograph moves me because of how care free the subject is. It's not serious and it wasn't constructed, which reminds me that there are still simple pleasures in life that are appreciated.

James Nachtwey
Sudan, 1993

This photograph is haunting to me personally. I remember seeing it back in Middle School when doing a project on famines. It still astounds me that someone with so little to them besides skin and bone has the endurance and will to keep living. In a way it still sickens me that this is happening all over the world, while in our own country the obesity numbers keep rising.

Paul Politis
Costello Hotel, 2005

I find abandoned building beautiful and creepy. It was once a place that someone cared about. A place where there was lively activity, people, food, and warm beds. Its a part of the past now though. Now it serves no purpose, many would say that it's an eye sore in fact. It may eventually be sold and destroyed, demolished, redesigned, or refurbished, but most likely they will start new, wiping this piece of history from the map.
