I find the focus portait done here extremely interesting. It's almost like a study of just focus. The interesting focus of the background full of grain compared to the sharpness of his hair and face feature really gives an interesting setting into how focus can change an entire photograph. It it it also gives a interesting comparison on how the subject isn't complete focused on the photography taken of him but on other things clouding his mind.
